Ramen – Not Just Cheap Noodles

goldengate
I just found out about Ramen, an open-source, node-based compositing application today. It looks promising, if for no reason other than to get node-based workflows in the hands of more people.

I’ll have to give this a try tonight when I get home… Maybe. The only way to get the software is to download the source and compile it yourself. I’m pretty sure that means I’ll be messing around with installing dependencies for a while before I ever get to try it out.

If and when I get around to compiling, installing, and playing with this, I’ll post a review.

  • Hi!

I'm the main developer of Ramen.
The software is under heavy development, and
that's the reason there are no binaries yet.
I fix bugs and add missing features almost daily.
The app is not complete, many details and some
important parts are missing, but it's usable and fun
to play with. It has some features that other compositors
doesn't, like tone mapping and patch blur (very slow).

Let me know if you need any help building the app.

    Thanks for the post!

Thanks for the info! It looks like I am going to try building Ramen over the weekend. I'll let you know if I have any problems. It looks like the app has great promise! I'm going to try it out on a couple of green-screen shots & plates as well as some light color correction on some doc footage.
